ExploSYS GmbH

Helping people in positions of responsibility make the right decisions.

The use of mathematical models in planning control strategies for infectious diseases and other health threats is of major importance for public health decision makers. We offer a unique technology platform with proven effectiveness and backed up by internationally renowned modelling expertise. Our customers include health care agencies in Germany, Switzerland, South Korea and New Zealand. Successful in business since 2005, we are located in Leinfelden near Stuttgart, Germany.

Key Capabilities
We build predictive models of population dynamics to understand the spread of infectious diseases and the effect of surveillance and intervention strategies. Our focus is on modelling the health care system to provide figures on resource usage for preparedness planning. In the case of unknown or uncertain knowledge about emerging diseases, we use explorative modelling techniques to asses best- and worst-case scenarios.

A Repository of Models
In recent projects we have developed models of directly transmitted infectious diseases including Pandemic Influenza, SARS, Ebola, Polio and Smallpox. Model of the health care system include surveillance policies, health care and essential service workers, outpatient visits and hospitalisations. We have models for interventions like isolation of cases, contact tracing, observation of contacts, antiviral treatment and prophylaxis, vaccination strategies, qroup quarantine, and social distancing measures like school closing and behaviour change.

The ExploSYS Advantage
ExploSYS acts as an interface between mathematical modellers and health care decision makers. The ExploSYS team develops customised simulation software, advices policy makers on how best to draw up emergency and action plans and provides training courses in infectious diseases epidemiology. We embrace open source software development and offer our expertise and technology on a fee-for service basis.

Technology Platform

Our technology platform comprises of

  • Deterministic and stochastic modelling, in particular network- and agent-based discrete event simulation techniques
  • Stochastic methods for parameter estimation, random sampling and global optimisation
  • High performance computing facilities
